Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • The Compliance Program team works to prevent, detect and mitigate regulatory, financial, compliance and reputation risks in the Energy Efficiency and Demand Management department. This includes, without limitation, conducting risk assessments, developing risk logs, developing appropriate policies and procedures, and engaging in monitoring and training activities to enforce the objectives of the program. Additionally, the Compliance Program team will monitor continuously for new or amended laws and rules and regulations that may impact the program.
  • Promotes a strong code of ethics and integrity within the department's operations
  • Attains compliance-focused knowledge of department practices and policies associated with program activity, including existing audit results and conducting appropriate risk assessments
  • Conducts independent testing and prepares risk logs and reports on risk findings based on best practices, Company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Supports design and implementation of controls, policies and procedures, action plans and mitigation strategies to address department risks
  • Tracks the implementation of recommendations from audits and internal reviews and monitors activities to ensure continuous progress
  • Communicates the department's compliance activities to department leadership and employees
  • Consults with department personnel, including program managers, to recommend and assist with changes to policies and procedures based on risk assessments, monitoring and audit findings
  • Leads business initiatives while advising and assisting the business on change initiatives
  • Supports the department's responses to regulatory examinations, audits, and inquiries
  • Prepares presentations and other compliance training materials for department trainings
  • Reviews and updates compliance policies on an annual basis and based on risk assessments, conducts reviews and audits of activities
  • Writes department policies and procedures for employees to follow and serves as the main point of contact
  • Identifies procedural improvements in high volume or risk areas and shares findings and participates in finding solutions
  • Carries out new ideas and designs to enhance processes, oversight, and tools
  • Regularly interacts with all team members of the department and uses relationship skills to influence and achieve compliance objectives
  • Keeps current on best industry practices and company and regulatory policies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and required

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree And Minimum of two (2) years of work experience required (1H - Specialist) Or
  • Bachelor's Degree And (3) years of relevant work experience (2L - Sr. Specialist) Or
  • Bachelor's Degree And (5) years of relevant work experience (2H - Project Specialist)

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree

Required Work Experience

  • Must be well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments and deadlines. Required
  • Must be able to work effectively with all company departments, various levels of management and third party vendors. Required
  • Must have strong analytical and interpersonal skills. Required
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to think strategically to anticipate industry developments and regulatory changes and how compliance objectives might be impacted. Required
  • Project management experience. Required
  • Possess a high degree of integrity and ethical standards. Required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Required
  • Relevant work experience may include experience in at least one of the following functional areas: energy efficiency or demand management, procurement, customer accounting, regulatory, compliance, internal audit Preferred
  • Experience in implementing a compliance program in a department or across a company. Preferred
  • Utility industry and knowledge of energy efficiency and demand management a plus Pref

  • Ability to build strong customer relationships

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

  • Must sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for entire shift

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
