Core Responsibilities

  • The primary function of the Analyst is to conduct comprehensive studies, analyses, and operational guidelines in support of Steam Operations' goals of providing reliable and environmentally sound service at a reasonable cost. The person performing this role will independently prepare the outage schedule, track and monitor station testing requirements, perform monthly reporting, develop operating plans, conduct the Economic Ranking, prepare presentations, and represent the section at meetings with inside and outside stakeholders.
  • Track and monitor station testing, unit ramp rates, DMNC, and other operational parameters
  • Conduct economic ranking of steam units.
  • Interface with generating stations, the Energy Control Center, Engineering, and Steam Distribution to identify and resolve issues related to operations and performance. Conduct root cause analyses, operational investigations, and load flow studies of the steam system for senior management. Work in cross functional teams across various departments.
  • Perform analyses associated with plant performance, thermodynamics, and hydraulics
  • Perform NOx forecasts for the steam system.
  • Perform studies, including scope of work, data gathering/trending, computer modeling, and analyses. Presents results up to the Vice President level.
  • Assists with technical and economic analyses and forecasts of the production and purchase of steam to meet customers needs. Incorporate environmental and technical dispatch constraints within the analyses.
  • Assists with developing operating plans to assure reliable steam supply at reasonable costs while complying with applicable regulations.
  • Assists with preparation of reports and testimony for regulatory proceedings.
  • Take special interest in our customers, both within the company and externally. Ensure commitment to the ideals of developing a proactive, customer-centric culture to foster trust and confidence among customers and improve value for all our stakeholders.
  • Provide emergency response duty during a steam or corporate emergency. This may requires being available for CERC, a field post, or a steam generating station outside of the normal work schedule.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
  • Prepare the outage schedule for Company (regulated) Steam and Electric Generating Units. Must coordinate changes to schedules amongst the Energy Control Center, the Generating Stations, and Steam Distribution, and the NYISO. Must ensure adequate steam reserve at all times.
  • Manage station operations data (station sendout, fuel and energy use, emission) to perform monthly reports for various internal stakeholders
  • Perform Gas Turbine production forecast.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree engineering, business, finance, or other equivalent field of study And 3 years of relevant work experience

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree engineering, business, finance, or other equivalent field of study And 2 years of relevant work experience

Relevant Work Experience

  • Steam operations, planning, or engineering experience in a technical and analytical capacity Required
  • Knowledge of basic financial concepts Required
  • Must have the ability to cross reference reports for discrepancies and resolve Required
  • Must have good communication skills and ability to work in a professional manner with various company departments and outside agencies Required
  • Proficient in computer applications MS Word, Excel, Power Point. Required
  • Strong technical and analytical skills are required Required
  • Basic knowledge of power plant equipment and operation Required
  • Basic knowledge of the PI system Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required
