Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • The main responsibility of the Millwright is to provide maintenance and troubleshooting support to shop machinery. This includes both mechanical and electrical parts of shop machinery.
  • Review and follow highly technical and complex machinery manuals.
  • Repair or replace broken or defective machine parts on all types of machinery including saws, lathes, CNC machines, drill presses, etc.
  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules for all shop machines performing coolant changes, blade changes, and calibrations as well as adjusting and aligning rotating equipment.
  • Measure, examine, and test using precision instruments such as micrometers, multimeters, and other testing equipment.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform checks on machinery operation.
  • Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
  • Maintain machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
  • Must be able to demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.

Required Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED And 4 years experience in one or more of the following: mechanical experience, electrical experience or millwright experience

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Physical Demands

  • Must respond to system emergencies
  • Must work at field locations in all weather conditions
  • Must perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions
  • Must perform heavy manual labor; i.e. pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Must carry tools and materials, climb ladders and scaffolds, and enter confined spaces
  • Must work in an environment that includes heat, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
  • Must climb ladders and stairs
  • Must work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
  • Must work with and in the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
  • Must be approved and able to wear either a full- or half-face respirator without facial hair or other condition that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Must be approved and able to wear a full- or half-face respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), without facial hair or other condition that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Must walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach
  • Must use hand tools and operate heavy equipment,i.e. jackhammers
  • Must travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
  • Must use eye-hand coordination to adjust controls on equipment
  • Must wear all necessary personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including; fire retardant clothing and safety harness
  • Must work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must work with equipment with manufacturer weight rating of 350 llbs.
  • Must be able to use equipment with a maximum weight rating of 375 lbs when wearing and/or carrying 25lbs of clothing and equipment.
