Core Responsibilities

- Monitor and evaluate the test results of boilers, turbines, and auxiliary equipment to identify potential problems regarding equipment and/or operating deficiencies and implement measures to improve overall performance and enhance reliability.
- Provide guidance and control for the daily management of the station's technical services functions, and play an integral role in the station's work control process for the Department with respect to scheduling and coordination between various departments for critical job evolutions.
- Work closely with the different groups in Central Engineering when necessary and oversee the installation and testing of new equipment.
- Guarantee design basis compliance, steer root cause assessments and guide corrective action programs.
- Effectively communicate appropriate procedural changes, lessons learned, and engineering plans and specifications to supervisors to ensure the adequate maintenance is performed on Steam generation and electric generation instrumentation.
- Review and update existing Steam Operations procedures with the supervisors and create and implement new guidelines and practices where necessary.

- Perform appropriate Managerial functions in the interview and job placement process of new and transferring personnel. Follow through to ensure timely action on labor issues.
- Promote a positive work ethic and increase personnel technical and personal development by recommending appropriate training and providing constructive feedback.
- Assist in developing the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Expense and Capital Budgets.
- Foster a customer service focus among supervisors and technicians, while emphasizing professionalism, honesty, concern, courtesy, excellence, and teamwork.
- Complete Root Cause Analysis Investigations, document and report out the findings for incidents that occur at the facility. Ensure the corrective actions identified during root cause analysis reports are implemented.
- Provide guidance to the system engineers priorities, plans and drive the execution of equipment maintenance and improvements.
- Provide monthly performance trend data to Plant Management to drive the safe, efficient and proactive operation of Station Equipment.
- Strive to improve morale and productivity of subordinates. Strong knowledge of Company rules, terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the grievance process. Establish appropriate disciplinary action, conduct disciplinary interviews, participate in settlement of grievances, and evaluate subordinates' work performance in a timely manner.
- Perform quality control reviews.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and program procedures applicable to Steam Operations Generating Stations.
- Provide direction for troubleshooting, repair efforts, and restoration of equipment or control circuits.
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
- Steer the coordination in the establishment and prioritization the station's long term capital program.
- Ensure compliance with all transient Cyber Assets at the Station.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in an operating area. or
- Master's Degree with a Bachelors degree and 6 years of experience in an operating area.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree In Engineering or related field and 8 years of experience in an operating area.
Relevant Work Experience
- REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 years prior direct or indirect supervisory experience required.
- Ability to interpret and dissect operating reports, maps and blueprints.
- Must possess strong leadership and relational skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of steam generating systems; steam/power utilities and steam distribution systems.
- Working knowledge and thorough understanding of the General Instructions Governing Work on System Electrical Equipment (Rule Book), Steam Operations Procedures, safe work practices and procedures, operating orders & work permits and use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Strong oral, written, presentation, and communication skills.
- Comprehend and interpret engineering drawings (including schematics, one-line diagrams, P&IDs and functional logic diagrams) and be able to provide marked prints of field conditions.
- Working knowledge of the Operating Orders and Work Permits process as well as safe work practices and personal protective equipment necessary to work in a generating station.
- Experience working successfully on employee relational or labor relations issues.
- Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Required
- PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Working knowledge of the Work Management Systems (e.g. Maximo, DataSplice, AutoLog, COSRS). Preferred

- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Must be willing and able to respond to system emergencies.
- Must be willing and able to work in an environment that includes heat, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations.
- Must be willing and able to climb ladders and stairs.
- Must be willing and able to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces).
- Must be willing and able to work with and in the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems.
- Must be willing and able to walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach.
- Must be willing and able to travel within O&R and CECONY service territories as needed.
