Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Company's primary point of contact for reasonable accommodations and ADA related matters for employees and applicants seeking employment opportunities.
  • Participate in conferences, mediations, and hearings with governmental agencies, or internal arbitration hearings, as required.
  • Ensures that appropriate processes are in place to provide for the prompt and equitable resolution of complaints and inquiries from employees and applicants regarding reasonable accommodations and compliance with the ADA and other applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to individuals with disabilities.
  • Conduct regular self-evaluation of the Company's services, policies and practices regarding the provision of reasonable accommodations to applicants and employees with disabilities.
  • Maintains a detailed record of all disability and reasonable accommodation issues and the resolution of each.
  • Review policies, procedures and processes that may serve as barriers to workplace equity and inclusion for individuals with disabilities.
  • Research and keep up to date on current and pending disability related laws and regulations.
  • Use subject matter expertise to provide leadership, expert consultation and deliver targeted training and awareness presentations to address specific disability related concerns.
  • Provide advice and counsel to Human Resources partners, and company employees on reasonable accommodations and disability related policies, procedures, and issues.
  • Review policies, procedures and processes that may serve as barriers to workplace equity and inclusion for individuals with disabilities.
  • Engage with both management and union employees at all levels, representatives from government agencies, and other stakeholders in contact with the office.
  • Performs other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of (3) years of work experience and demonstrated value-added assignments in multiple organizations.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree and a minimum of (2) years of work experience and demonstrated value-added assignments in multiple organizations.
  • Juris Doctorate and a minimum of (2) years of work experience and demonstrated value-added assignments in multiple organizations.

Relevant Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years experience working with current laws, regulations and guidelines related to disability and/or the provision of reasonable accommodations. Required
  • Experience with people with a broad range of disabilities. Required
  • Familiarity with any local disability advocacy groups or other disability groups. Required
  • Organizational and analytical skills. Required
  • Knowledge of various alternative formats and alternative technologies that enable individuals with disabilities to communicate, participate, and perform tasks. Preferred
  • Skills and training in negotiation and mediation. Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
