Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Will secure permits for all CE capital projects work assignments in accordance with Con Edison's procedures to meet required project deadlines.
  • Reads construction drawings/blueprints to determine permit requirements.
  • Update and maintains CE-0308 as needed.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement methods for productivity improvements and cost reductions.
  • Maintain compliance with corporate safety, OSHA and other governmental requirements and reviews the established training curriculum to assure the needs of the organization and provides contractor supported training when needed.
  • Prepare and file permits to obtain building permits for new construction or modification to existing facilities.
  • Complete CERs & CFORs for the special inspections agencies as needed.
  • Assist, coach, and train personnel in the application of current projects, and in the procedures, processes for the permit.
  • Coordinate with project team to resolve any comments issued for a permit application by the municipality having jurisdiction.
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree And 3 years of applicable experience (SPECIALIST 1H) Applicable work experience includes knowledge and work experience/training in (but not limited to): Power utility or heavy industrial experience in at least one discipline (e.g., electrical, civil, mechanical, etc.) with knowledge in other disciplines, Transmission, distribution or generation engineering design, Transmission, distribution or generation construction experience, NYC Construction & Fire Codes, NYC Zoning Resolution, NYS Construction Codes. Or
  • High School Diploma/GED And 7 years of applicable experience (SPECIALIST 1H) Applicable work experience includes knowledge and work experience/training in (but not limited to): Power utility or heavy industrial experience in at least one discipline (e.g., electrical, civil, mechanical, etc.) with knowledge in other disciplines, Transmission, distribution or generation engineering design, Transmission, distribution or generation construction experience, NYC Construction & Fire Codes, NYC Zoning Resolution, NYS Construction Codes. Or
  • Bachelor's Degree And 5 years of applicable experience (SENIOR SPECIALIST 2L) Applicable work experience includes knowledge and work experience/training in (but not limited to): Power utility or heavy industrial experience in at least one discipline (e.g., electrical, civil, mechanical, etc.) with knowledge in other disciplines, Transmission, distribution or generation engineering design, Transmission, distribution or generation construction experience, NYC Construction & Fire Codes, NYC Zoning Resolution, NYS Construction Codes. Or
  • High School Diploma/GED And 9 years of applicable experience (SENIOR SPECIALIST 2L) Applicable work experience includes knowledge and work experience/training in (but not limited to): Power utility or heavy industrial experience in at least one discipline (e.g., electrical, civil, mechanical, etc.) with knowledge in other disciplines, Transmission, distribution or generation engineering design, Transmission, distribution or generation construction experience, NYC Construction & Fire Codes, NYC Zoning Resolution, NYS Construction Codes.

Required Work Experience

  • MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Requires a Bacheloirs degree and 3 years applicable work experience, or a HS Diploma/GED and 7 years applicable work experience. Applicable experience includes knowledge and work experience/training in the functional area(s) (but not limited to): Power utility or heavy industrial experience in at least one discipline (e.g., electrical, civil, mechanical, etc.) with knowledge in other disciplines, Transmission, distribution or generation engineering design, Transmission, distribution or generation construction experience, NYC Construction & Fire Codes, NYC Zoning Resolution, NYS Construction Codes.
  • Requires a Filing Representative Class I license.
  • Requires experience working with various government agencies such as NYC Department of Building, NYC Fire Department and/or Westchester municipalities.
  • Requires Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook).
  • REQUIRED FOR SR SPECIALIST: Must be able to obtain a Code and Zoning Representative Class II license within 1 year of hire. Requires work experience filing alteration and new building applications with the Building Department. Must be able to assist with resolving any objections issued by the municipality. Required
  • PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Prefer experience in Scheduling using tools such as Primavera P6. Pref

  • Driver's License Required

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout the company service territory (5 boroughs and Westchester).
  • Must be willing and able to wear the required PPE as needed.
