Core Responsibilities

  • Serves as the face of Con Edison's talent acquisition efforts with external strategic partnerships. In this ambassador role, the section manager will work directly with jobs councils and talent pipeline groups, colleges, universities, trade schools, community colleges, high schools, alumni organizations, and industry groups.
  • Develop and implement strategies to develop our strategic partnerships to advance, plan, and manage recruiting events to include vocational and technical high schools, community colleges, colleges and universities, historically black colleges, and universities (HBCUs), alumni groups, industry groups, military bases, and veteran and disability serving organizations.
  • Develops and executes compelling presentations that promote Con Edison's brand and value proposition to attract top talent. Cultivates the recruiting team's bench strengths in these areas.
  • Liaises with internal operating groups to build an effective network of internal business partners who will partner with Recruitment at in-person/virtual recruiting events to increase the company's talent acquisition results.
  • Partner with Corporate Affairs and Office of Diversity & Inclusion to align strategic partnership efforts.
  • Actively promote compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, labor agreements, and company policies, procedures, and guidelines. Develops and directs quality assurance reviews, resulting corrective action plans, training and change management.
  • Develop the hiring strategy and oversee the talent acquisition functions for summer and coop internships, unpaid internships, and Leadership Development Program and maintaining focus on increasing the representation of women, people of color, veterans, and people with disabilities.
  • Lead the procedural and regulatory compliance functions and quality assurance functions for Recruitment.
  • Accountable for compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) agencies of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Chemical Facilities and Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) background checks for sensitive positions and CECONY policies and procedures.
  • Accountable for compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Chance Act, E-Verify, immigration law, NYS Correctional Law, and all federal, state and local laws and regulations related to employment law.
  • Coaches and evaluates the performance and values of the staff and plays an active role in the development and implementation of programs to improve organizational performance.
  • Partner with Department Manager in establishing performance targets and develop analytics to measure performance and optimize resources, processes, costs and the experiences of customers and applicants.
  • Ensure implementation of company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree And with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience of which 6 years must have been in a managerial or supervisory capacity.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree And with a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience

Required Work Experience

  • At least 8 years of work experience, of which 6 years must have been in a managerial or supervisory capacity (relevant work experience includes Public Affairs/Corporate Affairs/Public Relations, Education (particularly in roles related to college admissions, alumni relations, career services, etc.), Human Resources related activities such as recruitment, talent acquisition, organizational development, and employee relation matters, Quality Assurance, Compliance, Audit, etc. Required
  • Knowledge of recruiting and sourcing techniques, federal selection guidelines, and federal, state and city regulations regarding employment practices. Required
  • Proven leadership skills experience managing cross functional teams and ability to adapt is essential. Required
  • Must possess analytical and creative problem skills to respond to and manage unexpected changes related to operational requirements to meet forecasted staffing needs. Required
  • Experience in managing change in multicultural environments. Required
  • Excellent project management skills to lead and manage strategic solutions to develop qualified and diverse talent pipelines. Required
  • Identify and prioritize business needs and implement continuous process improvements. Required
  • Must be extremely well organized, flexible and have the ability able to multi-task. Required
