Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • For the Accountant (1H):
  • Supervise, council, and discipline weekly employees according to the terms of the collective bargaining Agreement
  • Maintain employee statistics on attendance and productivity and manage the allocation of work within the group
  • Track, enter, and approve employees time in HR payroll
  • Prepare and administer employee reviews
  • Train employees to develop the skills required to complete work assignments
  • Perform special projects and other related assignments as needed
  • Assign, analyze and review employees work to ensure they are processing work efficiency, accurately, and in accordance with General Accounting Procedures (GAP) and Corporate instructions
  • Review existing processes; proactively explore the opportunity for improvements, and communicate a plan
  • Review and reconcile various sub-ledgers and associated general ledger accounts
  • Identify system issues and work with the appropriate support team to design, test, and implement updates
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required
  • For the Staff Accountant (2L):
  • Works with direct reports to ensure the section meets all KPIs for the department
  • Establishes the subsection's work assignments
  • Monitor proper accounting of invoices and cash receipts
  • Coordinate auditing inquiries
  • Meet with business partners to evaluate billing and collection activities
  • Assumes the Responsibility of section manager in their absence
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field And 2 years of full-time work experience in an accounting field (Supervisor 1H) Or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field And 4 years of full-time work experience in an accounting field (Accounting Supervisor 2L)

Required Work Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of full-time work experience in an accounting field Required
  • Familiarity with PowerPlan Required
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience (Accounting Supervisor 2L) Required
  • Minimum 6 months of supervisory experience (Supervisor 1H) Required
  • Familiarity with Oracle Business suite Pref

Skills & Ability

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities
  • Friendly and service-oriented
  • Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Physical Demands

  • Must sit or stand to answer a phone for entire shift
  • Must sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for entire shift
  • Must be able to read small print and symbols.

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
